I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Idaho, I love the mountains, trees, rivers, potatoes, and snow. I grew up with 3 sisters, and 1 brother. We have always been a very close family and I consider myself very lucky because I have two loving parents that have been married for 55 years.
I met and married my husband 24 years ago and after traveling all over the country we settled in the beautiful state of Mississippi. The trees and flowers here are gorgeous and it stays green almost the year round. I still miss the snow on Christmas morning though. We have a family of yours, mine, and ours. Had some rocky roads but everything has worked out pretty good. I have 3 children of my own, 3 step-children, 1 daughter-in-law, and 2 grandchildren (the love of my life).
All of my life I have had a dream of one day being a nurse and doing what I like best "helping other people". When our kids grew up and left home I finally decided it is now or never and at the age of 45 I applied for nursing school. To my great surprise I was accepted and was on my way to fulfilling my dream. However the Lord has his plans for us and was I in for a big surprise!
Two weeks before school started I was given custody of my 10 day old grandaughter. How in the world was I going to raise a newborn baby, go to school, and take care of my family? Well as I said the Lord had everything worked out and with his help, the love and support of my family and friends, and a lot of hard work on my part I received my LPN license in June of 1995.
The little bundle of joy that I was given changed my life forever. She made me laugh, cry, and she kept me going when I didn't think I could make it anymore. I realized that there is nothing more important in life than the love and trust of a grandchild. It is a wonderful blessing to be a grandmother. Ashleigh now lives with her father and new mother and a baby brother named Cole. She has touched my life in such a special way!
When I graduated I went to work in a minor emergency clinic and have been able to do what I love best "helping others". It is a very wonderful and rewarding profession. I am very proud of my accomplishments. Thank you to my family for the love and support you gave to me to help me see my dreams come true.
This Is My Ashleigh
I Think This Says It All
As I care for
My patients in
need,
Be with me
Oh Lord, in word
and deed.
Let me act with
kindness
It means so much
Bestow my hands
With your loving
touch
Give me strength
in all that I
do,
So those in need
May hear and
feel you.
